Each guide takes you from a copy of your manuscript to your first imported scene or a recorded story change. Use Bring a manuscript or Track a story written elsewhere on the project library; returning authors can find both in New Project.

01 · Microsoft Word

Bring a .docx copy into WriteIDE 0.7.3, review the detected chapters and scenes, then open your story. Or keep drafting in Word and use WriteIDE as the tracker. Your original file stays separate, and the import stays on your computer.

02 · Google Docs

Download a .docx or Markdown copy from Google Docs, then bring it into WriteIDE 0.7.3. Review its chapters and open your story, or keep drafting in Docs while WriteIDE tracks continuity. There is no Google account connection or live sync.

03 · Scrivener

WriteIDE 0.7.3 imports a compiled DOCX, Markdown, or TXT copy, not the .scriv project. Review the chapters and open the imported story, or keep drafting in Scrivener and use WriteIDE to track changes at each scene.

What is current, and what is not.

The public desktop release is WriteIDE 0.7.3. To bring in current character stats, choose Track a story written elsewhere → Import character stats. Select a CSV table or an Excel workbook with one populated visible worksheet, map the columns, and review the values before creating a new tracker. Imports into an existing project require WriteIDE’s stats/history format.
